Job Summary:

Kairos is looking for a hands-on, process-oriented Manager – Corporate Accounting to lead the financial operations of our established, private equity real estate management company that’s looking to scale. Unlike a fund-level role, this position is the engine behind the firm’s corporate entity, focusing on operational excellence, internal risk mitigation, and sophisticated financial reporting. This position will oversee the firm’s corporate P&L, account for complex compensation structures (including carried interest), and optimize automated workflows. This is a high-visibility role for a Big 4 professional looking to step into a leadership position within the private equity industry.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Corporate Financial Operations: Hands-on oversight of all accounting activities for the Management Company and General Partner (GP) entities, including intercompany billings and the consolidation of firm-wide financial results.
  • Operational Workflow & Risk: Design and maintain robust risk assessments for firm operations.  Implement the optimization of Yardi and Concur workflows to ensure scalability and fraud prevention in AP and Expense Reporting, along with other critical processes.
  • Complex Compensation & Carry: Compute the mechanics of firm-wide compensation, including bonus accruals and the tracking, reporting, and accounting for carried interest units and partner capital accounts.
  • Asset-Level Cost & Expense Allocation: Actively manage the “reimbursable” workflow—ensuring deal-related expenses are accurately and defensibly allocated between the Management Company, the various Investment Funds, and our properties.
  • Data & Reporting Automation: Leverage data to automate manual reporting and visualize firm-wide KPIs. Drive the flow of information between Yardi and corporate reporting packages.
  • Cash Flow & Budgeting: Produce monthly management reports comparing actuals to budget; provide the leadership team with insights into firm liquidity needs and corporate profitability. Assist with annual budgeting process along with other financial analysis activities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with other departments to establish financial operational processes that meet business needs across the firm. Provide timely response to informational requests from internal departments.
  • Systems Leadership: Act as the corporate finance functional expert for systems like Yardi (Investment Management/GL) and Concur, ensuring these platforms are leveraged to their full potential for firm operations.
  • Team Leadership: Train and develop corporate accounting staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and intellectual curiosity.
  • Special Projects: Complete special projects related to a wide variety of topics, including strategy and system implementations as required.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Experience: 5-8 years of progressive experience. Candidates moving directly from public accounting or those with a mix of public accounting and private equity/real estate experience will be considered.

  • Well-organized and detailed oriented individual with the highest degree of integrity, motivation and intellectual curiosity.
  • Skilled in working across heavily matrixed organizations which requires significant influencing and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in Irvine, CA office 5 days a week.

Benefits:
