Senior Director, Financial Reporting

Job Summary:
Kairos Investment Management Company is seeking a Senior Director Financial Reporting to join our team. An ideal candidate will be part of a fast-paced and dynamic finance team within a growing organization in the investment management industry. This role will contribute to the success of the organization by providing relevant, timely, and accurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
- Continuous improvement of required and supplemental content in addition to form of reports based upon best practices of industry standards.
- Timeliness of all deliverables.
- Review and approve monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the Funds.
- Quarterly investor report preparation including coordination with Asset Management, Investor Relations, and Accounting Departments. Preparation includes consolidation of General Partner comments on both the macro environment and the performance of the Fund and its investments.
- Quarterly investor account statement review and approval.
- Quarterly and annual fair value support oversight working in conjunction with the FP&A group and Investment Analysts.
- Preparation, maintenance, and dissemination of firm track record of investments.
- Consistency of accounting information within the enterprise system and investor portal.
- Ensure proper accounting for the ownership of investments and investment entities.
- Subject matter expert in GAAP as it applies to external reporting in all formats.
- ESG reporting input. Includes gaining understanding of requirements, best practices, and coordination among departments to provide relevant information.
- KPI system continuous enhancements and improvements.
- Lead GIPS compliance efforts, testing, and annual certification.
- Primary contact and expert in Workiva for quarterly and annual reporting presentation.
- Contribute to the on-going development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive accounting system and controls.
- Review and oversight of preparation of investment level monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date actual to budget and business plan variances and provide summaries to senior management.
- Perform technical accounting research and coordination of implementation, including footnote disclosures.
- Work with Investor Relations to address investor questions and inquiries.
- Compile private equity industry/competitor benchmarking analysis.
- Provide quarterly and annual lender financial reporting requirements.
- Work with external auditors on valuation matters.
- First line of communication with investors regarding GAAP reporting.
- Ad-hoc projects, as needed.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Relevant experience with GAAP financial statement reporting and footnote preparation.
- Prefer at least ten (10) years cumulative experience with investment advisory entities (Real Estate or Private Equity), REITs, Limited Partnerships or joint venture structures whether in public accounting or private equity industry.
- Thorough understanding and experience with institutional investor reporting requirements (ex. GIPS, NACRIEF, PERE, PRI, Time Weighted Return, Form ADV, Form PF, Gross vs. Net Performance, IRR, Equity Multiple, ROA)
- Experience in creating and analyzing waterfalls for investment distribution calculations a plus.
- Ability to read and understand entity formation documents or investment offering documents along with a general knowledge of tax reporting is a big plus.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in finance, accounting, or economics.
- CPA, CFA, or advanced degree preferred.
- Public accounting experience a plus.
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft 365 Suite and accounting software, Yardi preferred.
- Critical thinking and skills in financial analysis and project management.
- Ability to work independently and in a team construct.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with great organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to communicate timely, professionally and cross-functionally.
- Excellent business references.
- Well-organized and detailed oriented individual with the highest degree of integrity, motivation and intellectual curiosity.
- Skilled in working across heavily matrixed organizations which requires significant influencing and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in Irvine, CA office 5 days a week.

Compensation:
The annual U.S. based wage range for this full-time position is $200,000 – $230,000 annually. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location and experience and will take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of health & wellness benefits.
