Associate Investment Manager, Real Estate Credit

Job Summary:

KIMC is seeking an Associate Investment Manager to support the Real Estate Credit Strategy team. The Associate Investment Manager will lead the underwriting process and assist with portfolio management demonstrating strong working knowledge in underwriting, financial modeling and documentation associated with structured debt. The Associate Investment Manager should be able to identify opportunities and issues on complex transactions with a business-oriented and problem-solving mindset.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead underwriting process for commercial real estate structured debt investments (including A/B note, senior/mezzanine, note-on-note, preferred equity, and distressed investments).
  • Produce investment committee memos and lead investment committee discussions alongside originators.
  • Review and negotiate both legal and business terms of loan documents.
  • Evaluate leases, agreements, and third-party reports including zoning, seismic, appraisal, environmental, and engineering reports.
  • Communicate with and support lending partners in due diligence during the syndication process.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow models.
  • Work with Asset Management and the accounting teams to create quarterly and annual investor reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or related field.
  • 3+ years of prior commercial real estate lending or related field.
  • Must be a team player with comfort working collaboratively and independently in a high growth and high demand environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of structured debt including A/B note, senior/mezzanine, note-on-note, preferred equity, and distressed investments.
  • Strong underwriting skillsets including Argus and Excel modeling.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented individual with the highest degree of integrity, motivation, and intellectual curiosity.
  • Strong verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while delivering quality work product.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Compensation:

The annual U.S. based wage range for this full-time position is $120,000.00 – $135,000.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location and experience and will take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of health & wellness benefits.
