Job Summary:

We are looking for a hands-on, analytical and detailed oriented Investment Accountant to work in an ambitious and growing environment. This role will be assisting the fund accounting team with coordinating fund reporting, including preparing financials. Additionally, this role will keep track of deadlines and deliverables and communicate with different internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares journal entries, reconciliations, analysis, and supporting workpapers.
  • Records fund cash activity in a timely manner.
  • Reviews and reconciles external property financials to Yardi.
  • Processes fund transactions, including payments to vendors and issuing checks.
  • Assists with ensuring property acquisitions, dispositions, and refinance transactions are accurately recorded by the external property management accountants.
  • Reviews and processes property level capital calls and monitors property self-escrowed cash balances.
  • Assists with fund distribution and capital call calculations, associated payments are made/received timely, and Yardi is updated and maintained accordingly.
  • Assists with ensuring asset management fees and other required fee calculations are computed in accordance with such documents.
  • Assists with the completion of interim and year-end external audit testing requests.
  • Assists with internal tax and investor relations teams’ requests.
  • Assists with fund budgeting, forecasting, and other reporting activities.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assists with researching technical GAAP and operational questions and provide solutions.
  • Together with the Accounting Manager and Fund Controller, produces quarterly fund financial statements and other required financial information included but not limited to investor funded and unfunded commitments, asset accrual methodology, and output, and provides qualitative analysis and comments.
  • Support the Senior Investment Accountant as needed.
  • Possesses a good understanding of how funds are being accounted for pursuant to the governing fund documents, advisory agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of the general ledger structure and investment accounting module in Yardi for all funds.
  • Troubleshoots escalated issues and ensures requests are handled timely and accurately.
  • Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company’s values.
  • Other duties and projects as required.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Preferred at least three (3) years of financial accounting experience in real estate investment, real estate development, private equity, or investment advisory or two (2) years of public accounting experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting.
  • Good knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, etc.
  • Great computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel intermediate level) and accounting software (Yardi experience a plus).
  • Well-organized and detailed oriented individual with the highest degree of integrity, motivation and intellectual curiosity.
  • Skilled in working across heavily matrixed organizations which requires significant influencing and collaboration skills.

Compensation:

The annual U.S. based wage range for this full-time position is $78,000 – $90,000 annually. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location and experience and will take into account internal equity.  Other forms of pay may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of health & wellness benefits.
